Free “Deck the Plaza” City Hall Lights and Tree Lighting Holiday event brings families to City Hall and will close with Holiday fireworks

Dallas Mayor Pro Tem Carolyn King Arnold and City Manager T.C. Broadnax will be lighting up the Holiday tree on Friday, December 2 at City Hall Plaza.

The free holiday celebration is open to the public from 4 to 7 pm. A full program with live entertainment on stage includes Dallas ISD’s Woodrow Wilson High School Wildcats band and the “Sweethearts” dance group. Live band Devotio Moderna will play and sing Spanish language traditional holiday music. Singer Kir’Ondria Woods will represent The Black Academy of Arts and Letters (TBAAL).

Families are invited to come and enjoy free fun activities. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be present by the spectacular 50-foot-tall evergreen tree to greet families and their children. Special interactive characters will also be present. Children will have an opportunity to hop on carriage rides and play with real snow. Other activities include mini train rides, bounce houses, a City staff holiday tree decoration and exhibit, along with food trucks.

Attendees will be encouraged to explore the various holidays that make up the season.

Rev. Andy Stoker, Chief Engagement Officer for Thanks-Giving Square and Michelle Golan Friedman, Interim Director of Jewish Federation’s Jewish Community Relations Council will share special messages from the interfaith community.

“This is a special celebration to engage with Dallas residents, City employees and their families” said City Manager T.C. Broadnax. “We are happy to bring this pedestrian event back to activate all of City Hall Plaza.”

The 50-foot-tall holiday tree will be lit at 6 p.m. by Mayor Pro Tem Carolyn King Arnold and City Manager T.C. Broadnax. City Hall Plaza will be illuminated with holiday lights and décor for families to enjoy and take pictures.

WRR 101.FM will broadcast the countdown and holiday music. A holiday firework display from Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Arena is scheduled to close this live event.
